01Scope

This policy covers the SlAcknowledge desktop application and the slacknowledge.com website. It does not cover Slack itself, your relationship with Slack, or any third-party services you connect through SlAcknowledge.

02Local-first by design

SlAcknowledge connects directly to Slack from your Mac. There is no SlAcknowledge backend server in the middle: your queue, your Slack messages, your Slack tokens, and your app settings stay on your device.

The only data that leaves your Mac is:

03What we collect

Because the app is local-first, the data we receive as a company is limited:

04Your Slack data

The Slack messages, reactions, and tokens the app uses are accessed directly between your Mac and Slack. They are not transmitted to us, stored on our servers, or made available to any third party through SlAcknowledge.

You control the Slack app and tokens you create in your own workspace. You can revoke access at any time by deleting the tokens from SlAcknowledge's Settings or by uninstalling the Slack app you created. Doing so does not delete data from Slack itself; for that, refer to Slack's privacy policy.

05Payment information

Subscription payments are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles billing, taxes, refunds, and chargebacks. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

From Paddle we receive a limited set of billing data: your email address, country, subscription status, license key, and any refund or cancellation events. We use this data to validate your subscription and provide support.

06Analytics & diagnostics

SlAcknowledge does not include any third-party analytics SDK, telemetry collection, or usage tracking. We do not know which channels you monitor, what messages you Ack, or when you use the app.

The app writes diagnostic logs locally to your Mac via Apple's unified logging system. These logs are visible only to you and are not transmitted to us. If you encounter a problem and choose to share logs with us via support, you may do so by emailing them; we see only what you send.

The slacknowledge.com website uses Plausible Analytics, self-hosted on our own infrastructure, to count page views and purchases in aggregate. It uses no cookies, stores no personal information, does not retain your IP address, and does not track you across other sites. Analytics data never leaves our servers.

07Sub-processors

We share limited data with a small number of service providers, each acting as a processor on our behalf:

We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. We may update this list by posting changes to this policy.

08Data retention

Data stored locally on your Mac is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.

Account and license data we hold is retained for as long as your subscription is active, plus a reasonable period afterward (typically up to seven years) to satisfy tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements.

You may request deletion of your account data at any time by emailing support@slacknowledge.com - we will delete or anonymize it within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

09Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, our legal basis for collecting and processing personal data depends on the data and the context:

If you don't provide certain personal data, we may be unable to provide some services to you.

10Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) to:

To exercise any of these rights, email support@slacknowledge.com. We will respond within 30 days. We do not discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights.

11Cookies

SlAcknowledge is a desktop application and does not use cookies.

The slacknowledge.com website does not set any analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. Our self-hosted Plausible Analytics is cookieless by design. The Paddle checkout, when you open it, sets the cookies Paddle needs to process a purchase; see Paddle's privacy policy for details.

12Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we hold. Because most data stays on your device, the security of your Mac is an important part of keeping your information safe. We recommend using a strong macOS account password, enabling FileVault disk encryption, and keeping macOS and SlAcknowledge up to date.

Slack tokens are stored in the macOS Data Protection Keychain, scoped to SlAcknowledge's keychain-access-group. Subscription data we hold with Paddle is protected by Paddle's security practices. All traffic between the app and our service providers is encrypted in transit with TLS.

No system is fully secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your data, we will notify you.

13International transfers

We operate in the United States, and your data is processed and stored in the US. By using the app or the website you consent to this transfer. Our third-party processors may move data between regions as part of their normal operations.

For transfers of personal data out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses where required, or transfer to recipients in countries with an adequacy decision from the European Commission or UK government.

14Children's privacy

SlAcknowledge isn't intended for children under 13 - or under 16 in jurisdictions where parental consent is required for users under 16, such as the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom - and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

If you believe we have collected information from a child under these ages, contact support@slacknowledge.com and we will delete it.

15Business transactions

If SlAcknowledge, LaserBoy Studios, or Internection, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or bankruptcy proceeding, your information may be transferred to the acquirer as part of that transaction. We will notify active subscribers of any such change in ownership or control of your personal data.

16Disclosure to authorities

We may disclose information when required by valid legal process (court order, subpoena, lawful government request) or where we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud or violations of these terms.

17Changes

We may update this policy. When we make material changes we'll email active subscribers and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
